About me

A junior C#/.NET developer with a particular interest in backend development

I’m Nazmul Hussain, a Northcoders graduate who enjoys building reliable, well-tested applications with C#, ASP.NET Core and relational databases.

Turning my interest in technology into a career in software

My interest in technology started long before Northcoders. I’ve always enjoyed working with computers, from building and upgrading my own PCs to learning programming independently. Over time, I realised that software development was the area I wanted to pursue as a career.

I joined the Northcoders Enterprise Engineering Bootcamp to turn that interest into practical development experience. I built RecordShop independently and later worked collaboratively on Calico through pair programming, daily stand-ups, Trello planning and shared Git reviews and merges. Since then, I’ve gone back to both projects independently — deploying RecordShop, and taking Calico through a full security review, fixing what it found, before deploying that too. I’m now looking to apply these skills in my first software development role and continue developing as part of an experienced team.

Skills developed through practical projects

Backend development

Designing layered ASP.NET Core APIs, applying dependency injection and working with application logic, Entity Framework Core and relational databases.

Testing and quality

Using TDD and writing automated tests with NUnit, Moq and Shouldly to verify behaviour and improve the reliability of backend code.

Team collaboration

Pair programming as a driver and navigator, coordinating work through daily stand-ups, Trello planning and end-of-day Git reviews and merges.

How I approach development

  1. 01

    Understand the problem

Clarify the requirements, break features into manageable tasks and plan the work before beginning implementation.

  2. 02

    Build with care

Separate responsibilities into clear layers, write readable code and test important behaviour to make applications easier to maintain.

  3. 03

    Learn from feedback

Use pair programming, code reviews, testing and team feedback to improve both the solution and my development skills.
